French Fries and Flying Pucks

Though he went into meltdown mode when we first sat down in our seats, turns out M&M is a big hockey fan! It helps that he was given two different game pucks while we were there ;)

He was pounding on the glass, clapping when they scored, and watching intently as they went back and forth acrossed the ice. He fit in with the rest of the fans and was so well behaved for a one year old.

I hope there are any more hockey games in our future!

Testing...Testing...

All the rules, boundaries, and patience that is.

Little M&M has become a big handful. As I told M earlier, he's showing his toddler-ness. Man it is hard to follow through on following rules and discipline when those sweet baby blues are laughing in your face. I've had to start walking away when I know I'm going to laugh because I'm determined to stop fueling the fire. He knows he's cute and he uses it against us at every turn. I know some of it is boredom because he's not easily as entertained. I'm working on that. The other part is just learning what he can and can't get away with; something I can't control.

Today's escapades involve shot-putting his meal across the room and avoiding naps like the plague.

Typical toddler stuff but not any less frustrating to parent. I'm just trying to stay sane while this phase works itself out. Someday I will miss his devilish grin and finding hidden chunks of food in places you'd never expect.

That day is not today. Send wine!

Mandy

Yogurt In My Hair

Every stage your kids go through while they grow has its ups and downs. I'm sure that's nothing new! What I wasn't prepared for with toddlerhood was the flip-switch moods. The naughty followed by the sweet.

I think the most accurate description of a toddler is a sour patch kid. The tantrums and general whining are usually followed by the most adorable smiles or giggles. Mav's mood changes like someone is flipping the switch back and forth. His usual disposition is happy as a clam. But literally right as he turned one and joined the toddler ranks, the tantrums came out of nowhere.

Tonight he was having yogurt for supper but as he smeared the last bit in his hair, the crying started. He was mad because he wanted more but didn't want to eat the rest of his supper first. As cute as it is when he blows kisses instead of signing more, I held my ground. More whining. I picked him up from his chair just as he grabbed both sides of my face to give me a big ol' kiss.

Heart melted all over the floor.

So even though I've got yogurt in my hair, I don't mind because that one kiss makes me forget all the crabbiness. One kiss from my sour patch kid brings us right back to our happy place.

We'll see what tomorrow brings for our adventures through toddlerhood!

Mandy

I'm a toddler mom?!

Just like that, I have a one year old! He sure acts like a full blown toddler, too.

We had a little get-together on his birthday to celebrate since his party isn't until this weekend. He didn't know what to do with so many people watching him and giving him presents!

He made thee best faces while he was eating his cake. In true Mav fashion, he kept sucking on it like a boob :P It took him about 5 minutes to realize there was cake under the frosting.

Happy birthday my M&M! Can't wait to celebrate with the rest of our friends and family this weekend.

Love,
Mandy
