Friday's Favorite Photos

Here are some of my favorite Instagram photos to give you a little smile on this fabulous Friday!

First photo of our little nugget. I can still remember exactly how I felt when we got him! I can't believe how big he's gotten in the last 7 months. Our bond has grown so much and I can't imagine our lives without him now. He teaches me exactly what unconditional love is all about!

Our first big thing together as newlyweds. I felt so happy because not only did he just do a 5k with me but then proceeded to put me on his shoulders so I could see the stage at the after party.

My girls. Don't know where I'd be without them, they're pretty special to me! Each one plays a different role in my life and I think about them every day. (Love you girls!)

My two favorite kiddos, hands down. These two melt my heart every time I get to see them! They're the little brother and sister I never had. Ready to be home so I can see them again!

Besides my wedding ring and necklace, these are my two favorite pieces of jewelry. They remind me of my faith daily and encourage me to be a Godly woman and wife. They were given to me by an amazing lady who I hold dear to my heart.

Example of why I love my job. On a day that I had to take a test I was nervous for, I saw my little friends. Got to my seat for my test and found a little reminder from them. I felt like I had all the luck I needed to pass!
Vacation was a reminder that we are still newlyweds! It was so much fun to have people make a big deal about it at Disney. We spent our time away just enjoying each other's company and remembering why we need to do that more often!

Re-enacting our engagement during Veishea. Looking back, I wish I would have listened to M when he asked if I wanted to put on nicer clothes that night. Our pictures would have looked a little more like this and a little less like we just rolled out of bed. Live and learn, I'm still happy that it happened!

Happy Friday friends, have a great weekend!

Our Future Dwelling Place

Going to college makes it pretty hard to have a permanent living situation that you can decorate. Living in the dorms last year meant nothing could be attached to the walls unless you used tape or sticky tack. Pretty hard to hold things up with just those! Thankfully we could use Command strips but even those don't hold up everything. This year we moved into an apartment where it was a little easier to hang things up. We can hang things however we want but like any rental place either you fix it or you pay for it when you move out. As we start packing things to move back home for the Summer, I'm picturing all of the things I want to hang up next year. Now that I know we'll be living here for the rest of our time spent at college, I'm willing to put a greater effort into decorating.

I want to talk about my hopes for our future home, whether we buy a home or build one. I think everyone dreams about what they want their house to look like. Although that dream may change over the years or with each addition to the family, it's still important to think about. Now that I'm married, the thought of buying a house has become very real. Though I would love to head out to Ikea or Pier 1 (clearly I don't buy things to decorate with, those were the only ones I could think of) and buy half the store to decorate, it's just not feasible. I love to DIY so I can only imagine I have many hours of home improvement ahead of me. I want to find ideas I love and discover a way to do it myself with the help of M. Anything that can be re-purposed or is old, I want it in my house!

Some color schemes I really love are reds with brown, shades of blue, yellows, purples, or anything involving pink as long as it's not overpowering. You should know by now that I love me some pink but when it's a choice I'll have to live with (and my family) I think subtlety with girly colors is best.

This is just the tip of the iceberg in terms of plans for our future home. We have no idea when we're going to have our own place so until then I will just plan in my head. In the future I have hopes to talk about how I plan to decorate our apartment in a short term situation. Decorating in rentals is never an easy task but I plan on tackling that next year and if you're reading then I guess you'll be along for the ride!

My First Real Venture

Ever feel like there was something you were meant to do?
Well that's how I feel about photography. I've been taking snapshots with my new toy here and there but last night I took the first step into actual photography.
I had my friends show up looking nice and then said, surprise! we're going to take pictures now! Thankfully they're awesome and they had no problem helping me out. We headed off to central campus and besides a few mishaps it went really well! I'll had more later today but I'll leave you with some favorites.

Love you friends, thanks for being so awesome!
*These photos are just for fun and are in NO way engagement photos or anything of that nature*

Wedding Wednesday: It's all in the Details

The details are one of my favorite things to think about from our wedding. These photos speak for themselves so I will let them do the talking..

Pillow was custom ordered on Etsy, my grandma Phylliss made all of the garters by hand.

Something old (Grandma Mary's crystal rosary from her wedding just over 50 years ago) and something borrowed (a ring that my dad gave my mom)

Something old, something borrowed, something blue
My something old and something blue were the two most sentimental details I had at our wedding. My grandpa passed away just short of a year before our wedding so I wanted to honor him because he meant the world to me. I asked for one of his old blue shirts and I removed the cuffs. We used those to bundle my flowers together. I couldn't imagine having walked down the aisle without a part of him there with me. My grandma let me borrow the crystal rosary she used at her wedding and I considered that the biggest piece of good luck I could have had with me. They were together for 50 years before he passed and they sure had been through a lot in that time.

My Grandma Mary also handmade this small purse for me to use on the big day. It was the perfect size to hold kleenexes, my phone, and a few other small things I needed. I did lose my phone for about 3 hours that day because I had forgotten that I put them in here.

Flower girl dress also custom ordered from Etsy

My favorite last minute purchase, this was our "emergency" bag the day of and provided us with plenty of snacks and anything else we could have needed.
